Individual Psychotherapy
I practice therapy utilizing person centered approaches. I believe that in therapy, some of the most transformative moments can take place through the facilitation of non-judgement, and compassion. Your lived experience is unique, that no one else truly has gone through, and so, I approach from a place of learning to understand, and holding space.
I predominantly utilize interventions from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic approaches like Poly-Vagal Theory. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which I utilize to treat symptoms of trauma and PTSD in combination with the other therapy modalities offered above. Through these approaches I will teach you how to embody value-based living – choosing to engage in the things you value in life (going to see friends, walking your dog outside, attending your child’s soccer game, painting, taking that dance class), despite experiencing distress, and instead willfully inviting distress to come along with you. I can help you understand how the connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviours impact how we interpret, and experience the world around us, and how we can catch ourselves in deeply engrained patterns of engagement that may no longer be serving us. Finally, I hope to teach you the distress tolerance skills to work through these struggles in such a way that they no longer immobilize us, damage relationships, or self-esteem, among others.
